THE JOURNEY

Goyard Saïgon Tote Bag Clay is a softly structured tote that brings the Saïgon line into everyday use. First designed in the 1930s for a French client living in Indochina, the original Saïgon is reworked here with a more relaxed body. Beechwood trim that recalls the house’s trunk-making heritage and silver-tone palladium hardware preserve that character. Offered as Clay, this version appears in Goyard’s records as Navy Blue. In its MM size, the Saïgon Tote measures 34 x 16 x 25 cm, a proportion that sits easily within daily use. At 730 grams, it carries comfortably in hand or on the arm. The combination of Goyardine canvas and Chevroches calfskin keeps the construction light yet durable, while the linen and cotton-blend lining gives the interior a more natural feel. The flexible side gussets and flap can be folded in or out, allowing the bag to shift from a more closed silhouette to a roomier open tote. Inside, there is a spacious main compartment and a floating pocket. Twin rolled leather handles provide a balanced grip. This model does not include a shoulder strap. Made in France, the Saïgon Tote is already a relatively hard-to-find model given Goyard’s limited boutique network. Not sold directly online and available only through a small number of boutiques, this piece is made accessible at sutore with an authenticity guarantee. Even in daily use, this navy interpretation carries the house’s quiet signature.
